What do African People wear?

Most africans take their attire seriously whether you belong to Maasai tribes or not. What African people wear depend on where are they going:church, funeral, work, events or just relaxing at home.African people's attire are sometimes based on the religion they practice.People from North Africa are likely to dress most part like people from Middle East.Muslims from Nigeria dress differently than Togolese or Ghanian christians.
African peoples fashion for most adult women for churches, funeral and various events are more traditional.
These beautiful dresses are not usually bought in the stores because most african women cannot afford them. Most african women will buy the fabrics in an open market and bring it to the african fashion designer who is a little bit cheaper. Few african women wear westernized style professional fashion to go to work.
KABA & SLIT DRESSES
Kaba & Slit dresses are worn by most West African women on an everyday basis. These dresses range in styles.
Whether they are going to church, market, or to any social event, it is common to see our West African women wearing their Kaba & Slit. The Kaba part refers to the top half of the dress and the slit is the skirt-like bottom part. In essence, the Kaba and Slit is the African version of the European long skirt and and tailored top.
BUBA & WRAPPER
This is a traditional Nigerian attire. The top part is the Buba. It is a common form of loose fitting pullover with long sleeve worn generally with similar fabric wrapped around the woman's waist called the Wrapper. It can have embroidered neck and sleeve lines, but doesn't have to.Most often, Buba & Wrapper is worn with a head gear referred by Nigerians as the Gele.
LACE DRESSES
Lace fabric in traditional African fashion, often brings out the elegance in a woman. These dresses are worn at naming ceremonies, church services, weddings, baby showers parties and other social functions and are designed to bring out the very best in a woman.

AFRO-WESTERN FASHION
Afro-Western designs are usually worn by young people for weddings, outdoorings, baby showers, parties and other social functions.

BUOBUO
The Boubou/Bubu is one of the names for a flowing wide sleeved robe worn in most of West Africa and to a lesser extent in North Africa, related to the Dashiki suit. It is known by various names, depending on the ethnic group wearing them: Agbada (Yoruba, Dagomba), Babariga (Hausa), K'sa (Tuareg) Grand Boubou (in various Francophonic West African countries) and the English term of Gown

FUNERAL ATTIRE
Depending on which ethnic area you are from, traditional African funeral dresses can either be black or white.
Among the Ga traditional people in Ghana for example, black funeral clothes are worn when the deceased person was under 70 years. White is worn when the deceased person was over 70 years old.
African Young People
Young african people are more trending towards westernized style. The progress in democratization of the continent has expanded the freedom of expression. There are more radios and televisions. Most young african people through satellites are tuned to many western entertainment shows. They are more influenced by Beyonce, Rihanna,Tyra Banks and more. These young people are likely to dress more fashionable like in western countries and local dresses are most used for special occasions.
African Beach fashion
Most of times, they dress in jeans or very casual and few will wear very sexy bikini.African people are more reserved at the beach.African people tend to be excited about activities at the beach or for the relaxation and not too many african people dare go in the water because there is no lifeguard for most of the times. They are very cautious.
African School Fashion
African people for most part wear uniform to go to school till they graduate from high school. Most private schools will wear a kaki pant with a colourful shirt. In public schools like in Togo, students wear kaki pant and shirt.
Poor African People Fashion
As to poor african people, life is tough. You wear what you can find and there is no voucher from the government. You are on your own. Most of them will have new clothes only on special occasions such as christmas or New Year celebration. Most poor african people wear used clothes that you can find in secondary markets. They are just happy to have clothes. Who would blame them?.
