Just as there are thousands of diffrent tribes in Africa, there are many variations in the way each tribe dresses.Most africans take their attire seriously, whether they belong to Maasai tribes or not. What African people wear depends on where they are going such as to church, a funeral, work, a wedding, on a date, to family outings, a community event or just relaxing at home or on the beach. African people's attire is sometimes based on the religion they practice. For most adult women attending church,funerals,weddings or various events the fashion is more traditional. These beautiful dresses are not usually bought in the stores because most african women cannot afford them. Most african women will buy the fabric in an open market and bring it to a local fashion designer for creation. Few african women wear westernized style professional fashion to go to work. Young african people trend towards westernized style clothing. Most young african people through satellites are tuned to many western entertainment shows. They are more influenced by Beyonce, Rihanna,Tyra Banks and others. These young people are likely to dress more modern, like in western countries. For poor african people, life is tough. There is no welfare system in Africa. You wear what you can find. You are on your own. Most of them will have new clothes only on special occasions such as Christmas, Tabaski (Muslim celebration) or New Year celebrations.
