Liberia fashion:Korto Momolu is a popular fashion designer and stylist.Born in Liberia, West Africa, Korto left the country in 1990 due to a civil war, and settled in Canada where she pursued her passion, and studied fashion design at the L'Academies des Couturiers Design Institute in Ottawa, Ontario. After graduation, she moved to Arkansas with her husband to live and raise their daughter. Influenced by her African roots and inspired by rich fabrics, Korto began producing chic womenÕs wear and accessories.During the season finale of Project Runway, Korto presented her spring 2009 collection at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week and ultimately ended the season as 1st runner up.

African fashion:Oumou Sy is a Senegalese fashion designer frequently referred to as "Senegal's Queen of Couture".She is Senegal's most internationally known haute couture designer.Oumou Sy collections have been shown in fashion shows in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the U.S.She owns her own stores in Geneva and Paris.She designed the wardrobe for the Senegalese singers Baaba Maal and Youssou N'Dour,and has won various awards at international film festivals for her costume designs. She is a 1998 laureate of the international Prince Claus Awards.







Nigeria Fashion


African fashion:Deola Sagoe is a haute couture fashion designer from the Ondo State in Nigeria. A mother of three who studied at the University of Miami and University of Lagos with a Masters in Finance and Management, Sagoe began designing in 1998 and has gained international notoriety for her lively, and colorful designs. She was recently appointed to represent Nigeria in a new international campaign organized by the United Nations World Food Program. Sagoe frequently exhibits her couture collection at Cape Town Fashion Week and has been an invited guest of New York Fashion Week in the past. She has also has famous fans such as Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith.





Ghana Fashion


African fashion:Kofi Ansah is an african fashion designer from Ghana based in London. Ansah studied design at Chelsea in the United Kingdom and graduated with first class honors. He has been a major player in the Ghanian fashion industry being founder and past president of the Federation of African Designers, fabric design for the Ghana @50 Golden Jubilee Celebrations as well as costume design for the CAN 2008 African Cup of Nations.

African Fashion:Kenyan designer John Kaveke studied fashion design both in Kenya and in Spain. His style is a contemporary mix with a little bit of an edge. It can be classic or unstructured surrounded by notes of handmade beadwork produced by Maasai who traditionally use it as jewellery. Utilising fabrics like leather, denim, recycled fabrics, suede, knitwear, tie-dye cottons, linen and silk, Kaveke’s garments are designed for women who want to showcase their feminine charm and express vitality, passion for life and individuality. Kaveke has been involved in a number of prestigious projects including the International Smirnoff Fashion Awards, M-Net’s Face of Africa 2001, National Dress design Team and Sarajevo Fashion week.

African fashion: Armel, who claims to be the first Congolese man to create his own fashion label, "Connivences", is a member of a society known as "La Sape" -- a French acronym for "Society of Revellers and Elegant People". Armel adjusts everything in sight -- including himself -- with intense attention to detail, facing a mirror to rearrange the chiffon polka dot handkerchief nestled in his breast pocket.The Sape society has two Congolese branches: those from Congo-Brazzaville and others from Kinshasa, capital of the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.The flamboyant lives of the Kinshasa branch of Sape have featured in the media, with allegations of crime amid some members somewhat tarnishing the image of the sapeurs.
